(DFW AIRPORT, Texas – Tuesday, Nov. 19, 2019) — A record number of more than 2.5 million passengers is expected to head over the river and through the woods — or, more accurately, take to the skies — at Dallas Fort Worth International (DFW) Airport during Thanksgiving.
Between Friday, Nov. 22, 2019 and Tuesday, Dec. 3, 2019 — the traditional Thanksgiving holiday travel period — DFW will accommodate, on average, more than 208,000 passengers per day. While the days before the holiday will be busy, the busiest day is expected to be Sunday, Dec. 1, when nearly 247,000 passengers will travel to and through the Airport. In fact, the Airport anticipates seeing more than 700,000 passengers between Saturday, Nov. 30 and Monday, Dec. 2.
While it will be one of the busiest periods for travel of the year, the Airport offers plenty of useful tools and services to help make trips go smoothly, whether passengers are departing, arriving or connecting.
Plan Ahead, Connect and Save
Parking: Get a jump on holiday travel — travelers still can book parking at DFW Airport in advance and online at iin3d.com/park or on the DFW Mobile App. If those reservations are complete before midnight on Wednesday, Nov. 20, travelers will pay just $7.99 per day for parking at any terminal garage or express parking location.
Restaurants: Don’t wait for Thanksgiving to grab something good to eat. Ordering a bite to eat on the go is easier than ever with DFW Airport’s mobile ordering. Available in all five terminals, GRAB allows customers to order and pay for food in advance through the DFW Mobile App or the GRAB app. Once they arrive in the terminal, customers can skip the line and pick up their food before heading to their next destination. And, from Friday, Nov. 22 through Thursday, Jan. 2, 2020, customers will get a free Coca-Cola product on their first order by using the promo code “COKE”.
Use DFW App and Save
There are plenty of options for last-minute holiday purchases at shops throughout the terminals at DFW Airport and using the DFW mobile app can save shoppers money in the process. From Friday, Nov. 22 through Thursday, Jan. 2, 2020, mobile app users will find a discount button available that gives customers 10 percent off their purchases at participating stores. Check the DFW mobile app for the list of choices available.
App Offers Helpful Tools
As an innovative and modern facility, DFW Airport provides tools to help passengers travel informed and take control of their trip.
- See near real-time information on the anticipated times for clearing TSA security checkpoints on the DFW mobile app. Times also are shown for nearby checkpoints, allowing customers to determine if they would like to walk to another checkpoint.
- For international travelers, Mobile Passport Control is a service available through DFW Airport’s mobile app. Create a profile, input trip information, and answer U.S. Customs and Border Protection inspection-related questions and proceed through arrivals hall quickly.
Unplug and Be Entertained
Every DFW terminal is adorned with festive decorations, highlighted by the Airport’s signature 37-foot tall tree with holographic display near D30. Through the New Year, customers should be on the look-out for holiday surprises that include selfie stations located in terminal areas.
